Tata Projects, one of the fastest growing and most admired infrastructure companies in India, which executes large and complex industrial infrastructure projects.
For construction companies with sites at far-flung locations, knowledge sharing is a big challenge. Limited Internet connectivity compounds the problem, as does the nature of work, which requires engineers to be away from their desks most of the time. To address this problem, we worked with Tata Projects to develop an easy-to-use communication solution that enabled the company not only to send text messages and podcasts, but also receive employee responses to surveys and opinion polls instantly.
The operations of a construction company are spread out across multiple offices and project sites. Sharing knowledge in such a fragmented set up has always been a challenge for companies. Engineers spend most of their time at the work site where they do not have access to computers.
In order to help disseminate knowledge and keep employees updated on all the important developments, Lexys developed Smart Flash, a cloud-based communication solution using PHP and Perl. With Smart Flash, the company can now distribute knowledge to selected groups in the form of text messages or podcasts in a simple and cost-effective manner.
Unlike standard SMS broadcast solutions, Smart Flash goes a step further and allows companies to receive and aggregate employee responses to surveys and quizzes. Sharing recorded voice messages is also easy; just upload the voice file and Smart Flash automatically compresses them and generates a link.
Lexys implemented the solution in two weeks. Today, Tata Projects uses Smart Flash to share important organizational announcements, knowledge nuggets and safety tips in addition to conducting instant polls and quizzes.
• Employees stay posted on all important developments in a convenient way.
• Employee participation in opinion polls has significantly increased.
• Employees now learn continuously with the help of engaging podcasts.
